About Julian Jooste

I have been in private practice since 2009, and have therapeutic experience in a wide variety of environments. During this time I have developed as a therapist and have enjoyed dealing with a large variety of people. In addition to private practice, some of my other work has included working with addictions at various in-patient addiction centres. Furthermore, I have provided corporate counselling as part of employee wellness programmes at large companies.

Before 2009 I counselled at the South African Depression and Anxiety Group, where the focus was on providing therapy to individuals experiencing symptoms primarily related to depression and anxiety.

I also worked at the Student Counselling Centre at the University of the Witwatersrand during my internship, where I provided psychotherapy, psychometric assessments as well as career guidance services to people.

I hold a Masters in Counselling Psychology (University of the Witwatersrand) and am a registered Counselling Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (PS
0107727). My Masters dissertation focussed on professional men’s constructions of their masculine identity. The study was an exploration of men’s understandings of themselves and the world in a changing environment.
